I was just looking for...A bit of necroposting here. I was just looking for DM screen ideas and found your article. We are playing again after a pause of nearly 20 years... I remember that for some crucial Boss fights, I would it next to my screen and roll the dices openly.<br /><br />What we tend to forget is that the screen serves a dual porpose. I cheat of course, like all DM but not always for the same side's benefit...<br /><br />By "rolling" openly, your playes know you're up to something important. So again, it can work both ways.<br /><br />Placing myself at the side of the table will give this message (for this particular situation). I stopped using a DM screen and began rolling openly years ago and my games and I believe my games evolved as a result.
